LPTV Licensee Faces $9,500 Fine For FCC Violations
Sometimes you can trip when you are trying hard to follow FCC rules. We needed to move our Corpus Christi station into the city for better coverage so we filed for a mod which was approved and we took the station silent. We then built the station in Corpus Christi, started broadcasting and filed a resumption (while adding a specific note that we had resumed broadcasting at the new site of the mod). Months passed. Later we realized that we should have filed a license to cover (not a resumption) and we moved to correct the record with an explanatory note. Unfortunately the FCC fined us for filing the license to cover late. We had been operating exactly as-modified for months. We objected to the fine and we now await the FCC’s response.
